Windows 7 has had a very positive reception since its beta release earlier this month this is a very different reception that Vista had at its release. The main reason I think this is so is because this time around the expectations were very realistic and Windows 7 was able to deliver.
Vista as a PR campaign was not very successful especially for the geek market because it seems that there were many features that were talked about or shown off at one time or another but never delivered. Upon its release there were a number of software and hardware issues be it drivers or incompatibilities and this built a very negative image which still hangs around today. A classic case of under delivery by Microsoft.
However Windows 7 was quite different, very little was talked about until close to its debut and the delivery was pretty good. My personal experience has been quite good. I could use existing vista drivers with the install. The speed was good on pretty current hardware.
Have to say that the Windows team have done an excellent job this time around:D
